Meet our Team

Pastor PJ Hancock was still in her Mother’s womb, before her Mother even knew she was expecting twins God hand of love and provision was there for her.

It’s an amazing story of how P. J.’s mom at seven months pregnant was visiting a relative in Bangkok from a small town call Lop Buri. She went into labor and was able to deliver the babies at a hospital full of technology to care for two premature twins PK and PJ  If it wasn’t for that visit to Bangkok and the twins wouldn’t have a change since they needed an incubators.

In Psalms 139 13, 14 “For You formed my inward parts; You covered Me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works. And that my soul knows very well.” (NIV)

PJ’s older sister Jane Plant also works in leadership at New Hope North.  The girls have lived from one location to another during their childhood years including six years in Germany.

Pastor PJ come to New Hope International in 1996.  She was attending University of Washington and met Dwayne Anderson in her Thai language class.  He encouraged her to come to care group and church.  It wasn’t the easiest task but it wasn’t long she made the decision to follow Jesus with her whole heart.  Hungry for God the things of God she came to many church functions and soon was baptized in the Holy Spirit.

After she graduated from University of Washington in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies with emphasis in Southeast Asian Studies, she attended a Christian conference in Oklahoma where Jeannie Mayo, a youth pastor for more than 40 years, sparked the fire for youth ministry to this day in her heart.  There are three things to remember in ministry with youth:

1.    You pray your guts out!  2.     You love their guts out! and 3.     He/she who spends the most time wins!

Over the years the relationship she’s built goes beyond attending church with them.  Many of them still call her or text her when they have a need or just want to talk things over.

Pastor P.J.’s dream to impact the world for Christ.  She and Jason Hancock were married in 2000. They have two beautiful children Sarai and Ethan, who are being raised and nurtured in a godly home.

How does she find the time to be a Youth Pastor, wife, mother of two, Sunday School teacher and still have energy to do a some construction work on the side?

“Calling is the truth that God calls me to Himself so decisively that everything I am, everything I do, and everything I own is invested with a special devotion, dynamism and direction lived out responding to His summons and service.” quote from Os Guiness

What Scripture does P.J. like to share.  The awesomeness of God as in Isaiah 40: 5 –8 “The glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.  The voice said, “Cry out!”  And he said, “What shall I cry?”  All flesh is grass,  And its loveliness is like the flower of the field.  The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the Lord blows on it; Surely the people are grass.  The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”

Pastor P.J. loves to see the glow in a young person’s eyes when a something she is teaching them about God suddenly makes sense to them. They have caught it and she knows that they are really thinking with their head and listening with their heart to what the Holy Spirit is saying through her.
